Blowing Rock WinterFest will be held January 27th-January 30th, 2022. Head to downtown Blowing Rock to celebrate winter with four days of fun for the whole family! Click here for all the info and full schedule of events, and check out some of our favorite WinterFest events below.
Thursday, January 27th Events Mystery Hill: The Frozen Heart Adventure: An Escape Experience & WinterDuck Derby The Frozen Heart Adventure: January 27, 9am - January 30, 6pm WinterDuck Derby: January 27, 2pm - January 30, 3pm WinterHawk Tournament Tomahawk Throwing Competition Tomahawk Hill (at Mystery Hill) January 27, 4pm - January 30, 6:30pm One skilled competitor will become this year’s WinterHawk Champion! To participate in the qualifying rounds, register at Mystery Hill ticket office (you can register at the event as well). A heated tent will be set up at Tomahawk Hill and you can also warm up with Hatchet Coffee.
Friday, January 28th EventsWinterFest Ice Stroll : January 28th 4pm-7pm, downtown Blowing Rock & Memorial Park Stroll through downtown Blowing Rock and enjoy all the gorgeous ice sculptures! Artisan Ice Sculptures is one of only five Master Ice Carvers in the US! A dozen sculptures will be on display in front of businesses in town. NEW THIS YEAR – Join in on the WinterFest fun in Memorial Park , where there will be fire pits sponsored by Blue Ridge Energy, family activities and snow making demos (weather permitting).
WinterWine Seminars- California Wines & European Wine Seminar January 28th at The Manor Hotel (567 Main Street, Blowing Rock) 2pm-3pm: California Wines; 4pm-5pm: European Wines Take a tour of the California Wine Country with wine samples from Sonoma, Napa, and the Central Coast. You can also take a tour of European wine country with an hour long seminar from Danny Sanford, owner of Fine Wine Trading Company. Explore Spain, France and Italy and sample three wines from each country. Price: $55, must be 21 or older to attend.
Saturday, January 29th EventsHayrides in Downtown Blowing Rock : 10am-4pm Free hayrides depart from Memorial Park on Main Street (in front of the 1888 Museum). Polar Bear Plunge at Chetola Lake : 10am-11:30am at Chetola Resort You don't want to miss one of the biggest highlights of WinterFest! It's free to watch as a spectator, $40 to take the plunge into the lake! Proceeds benefit local charities and plungers can select one of the designated charities to benefit. Plunging begins at 10am! Judges will award the famous "Golden Plunger" award to the best costumes.
Charity Chili Challenge: 11am-3pm (taking place all over Blowing Rock at participating restaurants) This year, the charity challenge is taking place all over town! Participating restaurants will be serving their special chili and donating a portion of proceeds to local nonprofits. (A list of participating restaurants will be coming soon). Blowing Rock Market WinterFest Oyster Roast: 12pm-3pm at the Blowing Rock Market WinterFest Beer Garden : 1pm-4:30pm on the Blowing Rock Chamber Lawn The 5th Annual WinterFest Beer Garden will feature fantastic local breweries. Local and regional breweries will be sampling their "Hops and Barley Pops" outside on the lawn with live music and food available to purchase. (Must be 21 or older to attend, price is $40).
Saturday Night Concert: 6:30pm-8pm at Blowing Rock School Auditorium Four performers will take the stage at a concert that also marks the Grand Re-Opening of the auditorium at Blowing Rock School! Admission will serve as a fundraiser for continuing work and performances at the space. (Adults: $15, Kids 12 under: $5)
Celebrate the final day of WinterFest with one of the ongoing events! Enjoy free admission at the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum , participate in Shop til you Drop , and check out the events at Mystery Hill and Tomahawk Hill!
