A Tweetsie Christmas

Check out Tweetsie Railroad's transformation into a winter wonderland for the holiday season! Now through December 28th you can enjoy a nighttime train ride among thousands of dazzling lights, meet Santa in his gingerbread house and enjoy a live Christmas show!

Midnight Blast Holiday Nights

December 26th - December 31st Appalachian Ski Mountain will provide extended Midnight Blast Sessions. The slopes will be open continuously from 9 am until midnight on these special nights

New Year's Eve Events

New Year's Eve Ball Drop at the Horton Hotel

The Horton Hotel is hosting Boone's first ever New Year's Eve ball drop! Both of the Horton's lounges will be open at 6pm and the ball will drop from the top of the rooftop lounge at midnight! Enjoy a complimtnary bubbly toast to top off the celebrations.

New Year's Eve Celebration at Sugar Mountain

Everyone is invited to Sugar Mountain Resort's free alpine torch light parade at 11:45 pm and the fireworks show at midnightl Book your reservations now for the indoor festivities that will take place from 9pm until 1am. Enjoy live music and dancing and a champagne toast at midnight!

Family Night at Beech Mountain

Lace up your ice skates for a New Year's Eve late night ice skate! Dancing, food and beverages will be available in the lodge. There will also be a fantastic fireworks show at midnight to ring in the new year.

App Ski Mtn NYE Extravaganza

Visit Appalachian Ski Mountain for New Year's Eve and ring in 2020 with fireworks, torchlight skiing and more! Ski and ride until 11:30pm, moonlight ice skating from 10pm-midnight, and fireworks at midnight!

New Year's Day Events

Grandfather Mountain New Year's Sunrise

Ring in the New Year on Tuesday, January 1st with the first sunrise atop Grandfather Mountain. This special event will allow guests the rare opportunity to visit Grandfather Mountain outside of regular operating house. Enjoy complimentary coffee and bearclaws! Registration is required.

First Day Hike

Lower Profile Trail (4198 Hwy 105 South, Banner Elk)

Kick off the new year with some fresh air and exercise! Join Ranger Appling for a winter hike along the Lower Profile Trail, starting at 1 pm.
