Making Smart Decisions While Social Distancing Outdoors

March 23, 2020

It's great that so many people are heading outdoors during this time of social distancing. However, many national parks, popular trailheads, and backcountry trails are being overtaken by large groups of people.

Why Is This a Problem??

Increased crowds are making it very hard to social distance. Resources are already very low with park staff. Sensitive areas are being trampled, plants destroyed, and the Leave No Trace principles are not being followed

What Can We Do???

If you choose to head out, please avoid small towns with minimal infrastructure, known popular or crowded trails, respect all closures, and follow leave no trace rules! It is a great time to seek out the roads less traveled.

Nature is a healing place; let's make sure we keep it that way!
