Nestled within the town of Beech Mountain, the one-mile trail to Lower Pond Creek Falls is ideal for a scenic picnic. Enjoy native trout in the creek's pools and grab a picnic lunch at Fred's General Mercantile nearby.
Valle Crucis Park boasts numerous picnic spots, including two reservable shelters, tables with grills, and grassy areas in both shade and sun. Pick up a hearty sandwich from the nearby Ham Shoppe or a sweet treat from the Mast General Store Candy Barrel. Clean restrooms are conveniently located within the park.
Julian Price Park Picnic Area offers many picnic tables with grills along a creek. Enjoy activities like frisbee, croquet, and sack races, or explore the Boone Fork Trail, one of the High Country's favorite hiking paths.
Located in downtown Banner Elk, Tate Evans Park is perfect for a day out. With covered picnic shelters and tables, grills, two playgrounds, wading pools, a volleyball court, and on-site restrooms, there’s plenty of activities to enjoy (available April through September).
Grandfather Mountain provides multiple picnic areas, including the shaded Woods Picnic Area near the base and scenic spots along the drive to the summit. Enjoy amenities like bathrooms, a Kids in Parks Nature Trail, and breathtaking views. Note: An entrance fee is required.
With 100 picnic tables under the trees and a covered pavilion, Linville River offers a serene setting for picnics without having to worry about space. The pavilion is available on a first-come, first-served basis and is located near the Linville Falls Visitor Center, open from April to October.
This park features numerous picnic tables with grills and shelters with restrooms. Engage in a full day of activities, including disc golf, hiking trails, three playgrounds, fishing, and ball courts.
